Roles and Responsibilities

Claude is responsible and able for the strategic financial leadership of BBC News and Current Affairs Division.
He is a member, s, and advices the global News Board; the Division has around 6,000 people, broadcasting to almost half a billion people across the world in more than 40 languages on multiple platforms.
Claude is also responsible for how the division operates with the necessary governance, policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control of the division.

Biography

Claude ed the BBC as CFO, News and Current Affairs Division, in May 2023 taking on full Divisional Board financial responsibility for the Division delivering one of the Group’s flagship outputs globally. He reports to the BBC Group CFO, and the CEO News and Current Affairs, who is a member of the BBC Board and Executive Committee.

He was previously Europe CFO of Assurant Inc, Fortune 500, NYSE, a global insurer and business services provider, on the Board of its European Business driving the profit turnaround, business integration and transformation, Brexit and related financial restructuring, Finance team transformation and business cost reductions programmes across 2018-2023.

Claude has previously held a number of senior corporate development, strategy, and financial leadership roles principally in financial services with Lloyds Banking Group, IBM, GKN plc.

He is a qualified Chartered ant (ICAEW), Chartered Banker, Banking and Finance graduate and holds an MBA (Warwick Business School).

Expenses and central bookings

Expenses are costs incurred by BBC staff on behalf of the BBC and claimed through the BBC's expenses system.

Central bookings are costs incurred on behalf of the BBC and booked through the BBC's central bookings system. Both expenses and central bookings are published every three months.

Declaration of personal interests
