Car smashing into Chequers' gates caught on CCTV

The moment a drink-driver crashed into the entrance of the prime minister's country home was captured on CCTV.

Footage shows the white Volkswagen Scirocco speeding into the 80-year-old Victory Gate at Chequers in Buckinghamshire and slamming into a bollard.

Matthew Wootten, 44, was found to be almost three times over the drink-drive limit when he struck the gates in June. He caused damage totalling more than £38,000.

He was jailed at Reading Crown Court for two years and eight months, and disqualified from driving for three years and four months, after itting offences including dangerous driving and drink-driving.
