The body of James McMaster was found in a flat in Wishaw

A 47-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault following the death of a man at a flat in North Lanarkshire.

The body of James McMaster, 53, was found when officers were called to Maxton Crescent in Wishaw at about 14:10 on 5 December.

The death was treated as suspicious after a post-mortem examination suggested he had been the victim of an attack.

Last week a 50-year-old man was charged over a serious assault in connection with the death. The woman is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
