Could your choir be the next Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year?

We are looking for the best amateur Gospel choirs in the UK to be part of this celebration of music and worship. You can enter from now until the closing date at midnight Sunday 30th July 2023.

Five choirs will be chosen to appear in our televised finals where they will each sing in front of a of celebrity judges, TV cameras and live audience. Prior to the final, each of the five choirs will receive a music workshop from one of the best Gospel Choir leaders in the country, Ken Burton.

Filming will take place over one day in Manchester on Saturday 7th October 2023.

The winner will receive The Gospel Choir of the Year trophy, and £1,000 to be spent on developing the choir.

How to Enter

  • To apply you’ll need to fill in the Entry Form (via BBC er).
  • Make simple videos of the choir singing two gospel songs. There’s no need for specialist equipment, they can be recorded on a smart phone, tablet, laptop or camera. to film in landscape not portrait. Take a look at our Recording Guidelines.

Song One: A traditional gospel song or spiritual, or hymn in a gospel style.

Song Two: A gospel song of your choice based on the Christian faith.

  • Both songs must be published.
  • your two songs and submit your entry.

All entries must be received by midnight on Sunday 30th July 2023.
